Madalen was recently in town from Toronto. It was a short visit, but we made time for one of our traditional walks around Mill Lake. It isn't Central Park, but boy does that place look great at dusk! We always turn into little, squealing children when we come across a group of ducklings or spot a bunny in the bushes. Gotta love the splendours of spring! We get really sick of our hometown, but it's not a bad place for visiting and reminiscing. Speaking of which, today marks one week until I get to move on from this place once more!

MILES OF BEACH
I finally took the plunge and bought a new camera! It's a Nikon D600.
I've been too busy to actually make much use of it with the exception of last Sunday when I met up with Kaleigh at Crescent Beach. The tide was ridiculously low and the sun was bright and it all made for quite the spectacular landscape.

SPRING 13 / MIX

It's officially spring and I've got a new playlist to share. I'll admit it's a bit of a melancholy mix, but I've always had a soft spot for tracks with simple melodies and poetic lyrics. This mix features a couple of tracks from Daughter's spectacular Wild Youth EP, an original from my friends band Two or Three (whose album artwork I designed!) and a really lovely live-recorded cover by my guilty pleasure Lana Del Rey. Enjoy.
STREET STYLE / CHELSEA
I've been spending nearly every weekend with Chelsea (I've become very well acquainted with the border guards). We shop, watch movies, explore downtown Bellingham, paint, critique, and photograph together. This past weekend we helped Alesha with her sister's 17th birthday party. This involved a little photo shoot under the cherry blossom trees and high tea at Tracy Cakes.
I'm so happy for it to be warm enough for light layers, cropped jeans, and flats.

MY SISTER AND I

Remember a really long time ago (aka last October) when I said I had won a contest? Photographer Rachel Barkman redid her website and offered a free photo session as a prize for one randomly selected person who commented on the new site. I was the lucky winner, but as I was in Ottawa at the time, the photo session had to wait.
A couple of weeks ago I was finally able to claim my prize and here are the results: a photo shoot with my sister Heidi, my favourite wool sweater, and a typical Pacific West Coast drizzly day (flat, damp hair is a Vancouver standard, right?).
Heidi flew out of town two days ago with a one way ticket to Germany. She's marrying Manuel in May and wont likely return to Canada for a couple of years. It's very strange to see her go and really makes these sister photos extra special.
We're not always serious and moody. Promise.

Thanks Rachel for the photos! You were a lot of fun to model for.

VICTORIAN GETAWAY
Oh hey, its been awhile. I've been busy busy busy and my poor little blog has suffered neglect.
I return from my leave of blogger absence to share images from my girls weekend away in Victoria with the ever oh so fashionable Ashley and Natalie. I've said it before and I'll say it again: weekend getaways are the best. They're fun, adventerous, revitalizing, and probably one of my favourite things in life.
We had just the best weather for a ferry ride. My camera and I felt truly blessed.
Natalie is taking off for a new city soon. I'll miss this cute face of hers.

Oh yeah, sometimes I let other people use my camera too... if only to prove I was there.
We swapped stories over fish tacos and beer, browsed through downtown boutiques, and lusted after ocean side villas. Then, all too soon, it was time to catch the ferry again and head back to the mainland.
Thank you once again Victoria for being such a gracious host.
